The Corruption Eradication Commission searched three locations in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday, October 22, 2026. According to a Kompas.com report, the searches were connected to an investigation into alleged corruption within the Klaten Regency Government and alleged bribery aimed at removing findings from an Audit Board of Indonesia audit.
Three locations searched
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told Kompas.com that investigators had searched three locations in the Semarang area. One was the Central Java Provincial Representative Office of the Audit Board of Indonesia, while the other two were homes belonging to related parties.
During the searches, investigators secured and seized several documents and electronic evidence belonging to related parties. According to Budi, the electronic evidence was allegedly connected to bribes intended to remove BPK audit findings in Klaten Regency.
Investigators also found and seized cash while searching the Central Java Provincial Representative Office of the BPK. Kompas.com reported that the money totaled hundreds of millions of rupiah but did not provide the exact amount in its report on the searches.
Alleged removal of audit findings
The searches followed a KPK sting operation on October 15, 2026. According to Kompas.com, Central Java BPK head Ahmad Luthfi was caught in the operation along with Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo and private-sector parties.
Ahmad Luthfi allegedly requested Rp600 million to remove a finding involving Rp5 billion in overpaid honoraria. The requested amount was then reportedly negotiated down to Rp400 million. The allegation is part of the case currently being handled by KPK.
Kumparan.com reported that Hamenang allegedly accepted bribes from regional government agencies and gave money to a BPK official in connection with an audit. During the sting operation, KPK secured approximately Rp1.9 billion in cash and removed a blue barrel allegedly used to store the money received.
Dozens of people detained
KPK detained 20 people during the operations in Klaten and Jakarta. According to Kumparan.com, they included state officials, civil servants from the Klaten Regency Government and BPK, and private-sector parties.
The seizure of documents, electronic evidence, and cash during the searches in Semarang was part of investigators’ efforts to trace the alleged flow of money and its connection to the audit findings. A KPK statement quoted by Kompas.com said the electronic evidence seized was allegedly linked to efforts to remove audit findings in Klaten Regency.
Hamenang expelled from PDIP
Amid the legal proceedings, PDIP expelled Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo from the party. PDIP Central Executive Board Chair for Party Ethics Komarudin Watubun said the expulsion had been processed on Monday, before he made his statement at the PDIP Party School in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 21.
According to Komarudin, as reported by Kumparan.com, the action was ordered by PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri. He said the party took firm action against members involved in corruption and confirmed that Hamenang was no longer a PDIP member. Komarudin also said the party had previously warned all its members, including Hamenang.
