vivo has reportedly begun testing a new device that may become the vivo X500s. According to GSMArena, early information from leaker Digital Chat Station indicates that the device's engineering sample uses a large display with high-end specifications. However, the product name and other details have not been confirmed by the company.
Engineering sample enters testing
Digital Chat Station said on Weibo that a device described as a minor “s” iteration is currently being tested. The leaker did not disclose the device's official name, but comments on the post linked the information to the vivo X500s.
Because its identity has not been announced, the vivo X500s name remains speculative. The information emerged as the vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max entered the global market, more than a month after the three models were first introduced in China.
6.85-inch flat display
According to Digital Chat Station, the engineering sample being tested has a 6.85-inch flat display. The panel is said to offer 2K+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and bezels of equal width on all four sides.
The leaker described the device as an all-round large-screen phone. If the device is indeed the vivo X500s, this approach suggests a focus on panel size, display sharpness, and smooth on-screen motion. However, the type of panel used was not mentioned in the report.
Similar to the X500 Pro Max
The leaked display size, resolution, and refresh rate match the display specifications of the vivo X500 Pro Max. GSMArena said the similarity raises the possibility that vivo may bring the display from its latest flagship model to another device in the X500 family.
Compared with the vivo X300s launched in March, the device believed to be the X500s would have a slightly larger and sharper display. The vivo X300s uses a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. The comparison remains tentative because the X500s specifications have not been officially announced.
Other specifications remain unknown
The vivo X300s was previously announced alongside the X300 Ultra. Following that pattern, GSMArena expects the X500s could arrive alongside the X500 Ultra. The Ultra model itself is rumored to launch in China between March and April and is said to feature a 6.85-inch flat display with 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate.
No other information is available about the device believed to be the vivo X500s. Its chipset, camera setup, battery capacity, launch schedule, and target markets remain unknown. As the device is still at the engineering sample stage, its final specifications also cannot be confirmed until vivo issues an official statement.
