Apple is rumored to introduce the iPad Mini 8 on October 28, 2026, alongside a touchscreen MacBook. Details about the tablet emerged after Apple’s official regulatory website in France inadvertently displayed a Smart Folio accessory that differs from products made for previous generations. The device is expected to feature a new design, an upgraded display, and a more powerful processor.
Smart Folio provides a clue
Initial indications of changes to the iPad Mini 8 came from the appearance of a new Smart Folio case or cover. The accessory shown on Apple’s official regulatory website in France reportedly differs from the Smart Folio made for both the current iPad Mini series and previous generations.
According to Gizmodo, the Smart Folio contains 6,610 milligrams of magnetic material. That is more than the previous version, which contains 3,947 milligrams of magnetic material. The difference is one indication that Apple may be adjusting the design of the device intended for use with the accessory.
Design changes remain speculative
The available information has not revealed the specific dimensions of the iPad Mini 8. However, the shape of the new Smart Folio is seen as a sign of potentially significant adjustments to the device’s size, camera cutout position, or other parts of its body.
