The Ye, or Kanye West, concert titled “Ye Live in Jakarta 2026” is scheduled to take place at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Ahead of the show and the Jakarta Running Festival, the Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing a weather modification operation, while MRT Jakarta is adjusting its services to support public mobility.
Weather modification ahead of the concert
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung instructed the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency to carry out a weather modification operation on October 22-23, 2026. According to CNN Indonesia, the measure was prepared ahead of two events described as international in scale: the Jakarta Running Festival and Ye’s concert.
Pramono announced the plan at City Hall in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The operation was scheduled to take place before the two events on October 24-25. If conditions permit, it could begin earlier, with efforts made to continue it through October 25.
Pramono said he hoped the operation could encourage rainfall, making Jakarta cooler before the events begin. He also said its success would depend on the presence of the necessary cloud conditions. The plan had previously been discussed with the head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency and the head of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency on October 20, as reported by Kumparan.com.
Air quality draws attention
The weather preparations come as Jakarta’s air quality draws attention. Kompas.com reported that Pramono said air and haze conditions in Jakarta had worsened in recent days. Smoke from forest and land fires was also reportedly detected over Jakarta through satellite imagery from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency on October 16, 2026.
Several residents also complained on social media about Jakarta’s gray skies. Some questioned whether the Jakarta Running Festival should proceed amid the air conditions. The regional government then expressed hope that rainfall encouraged through the weather modification operation could help improve air quality and make Jakarta cooler before the series of events begins.
Concert to take place in the GBK area
CNN Indonesia reported that Ye’s concert will be held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Saturday, October 24, 2026. On the same weekend, the Jakarta Running Festival will take place on October 24-25 at the Gelora Bung Karno complex in Central Jakarta.
With two events taking place in the same area, preparations are not focused solely on weather conditions. Public transportation support is also being arranged to serve event participants and members of the public traveling to or from the venue area.
MRT extends operating hours
Kumparan.com reported that MRT Jakarta will extend its services on Sunday, October 25, from 12:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. The extended operating hours have been arranged specifically for the “Ye Live in Jakarta 2026” concert, with trains departing every 14 minutes.
On October 24 and 25, MRT Jakarta will also begin regular operations earlier, at 3:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. Services will run until midnight, with trains departing every 12 minutes from 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. and every 10 minutes thereafter. The adjustments are intended to provide access to public transportation during the concert and running event.
MRT Jakarta urged passengers to maintain order, follow staff instructions, and prioritize safety and comfort during the event period. People attending the concert or traveling around the GBK area should take note of the changes to operating hours.
