BPJS Kesehatan has urged recipients of National Health Insurance contribution assistance to regularly check their JKN membership status following the deactivation of a number of participants due to data updates. As reported by detikNews on October 28, 2026, the adjustments refer to welfare levels in the National Unified Socioeconomic Data. Participants who no longer meet the criteria for deciles 1–5 are not included in the PBI JK target group.
Opportunity to update data
BPJS Kesehatan Head of Public Relations Rizzky Anugerah explained that participants listed in deciles 6–10 whose actual circumstances remain poor or underprivileged may update their socioeconomic data. This step may be taken if the recorded information does not reflect the participant’s current circumstances.
According to BPJS Kesehatan, participants have a 90-day grace period to update their data through their village office, urban ward office, or local Social Affairs Office. Participants can also check their socioeconomic status through the Ministry of Social Affairs’ official Social Assistance Check service.
Rizzky said the update is necessary to ensure that contribution assistance is provided to people who meet the criteria. Meanwhile, participants who believe their recorded welfare level is accurate and can afford to pay contributions independently are urged to switch to the independent JKN segment so that their health coverage can continue.
Reactivation for inactive participants
PBI JK participants whose membership has been deactivated still have a mechanism to request reactivation in accordance with applicable provisions. Under Minister of Social Affairs Regulation Number 3 of 2026, as cited by detikNews, applications may be submitted by participants within six months of the deactivation date. This mechanism is also available to inactive participants who need healthcare services.
Applications are submitted by reporting to the local Social Affairs Office and bringing a Certificate of Need for Healthcare Services. The Social Affairs Office then proposes the participant to the Ministry of Social Affairs for verification. If verification confirms that the requirements have been met, BPJS Kesehatan will reactivate the membership so that healthcare services can be accessed in accordance with applicable provisions.
Tens of thousands of participants in Gorontalo
ANTARA News Gorontalo reported that 32,513 PBI JK participants in Gorontalo Province could have their membership deactivated starting November 1, 2026. The information came from the results of the third-quarter reconciliation of membership and contribution data for provincial government-funded PBPU BP participants in Gorontalo and is related to shifts in decile status.
The potential deactivations are spread across six regencies and cities. Gorontalo Regency recorded 7,148 participants, Pohuwato Regency 7,028 participants, and North Gorontalo Regency 5,818 participants. Gorontalo City recorded 4,323 participants, Boalemo Regency 4,226 participants, and Bone Bolango Regency 3,970 participants.
Head of the Gorontalo Provincial Health, Population Control, and Family Planning Office Anang S Otoluwa asked the public to check their membership status early. He said data validation, clear communication, and follow-up by stakeholders should be prioritized so that status changes do not hinder access to healthcare services.

BPJS Kesehatan has asked participants to use its official channels, including the PASTI JKN service and the Mobile JKN application, to confirm their membership status. If their status changes or becomes inactive, participants are advised to seek clarification and coordinate with BPJS Kesehatan, the local government, village or urban ward authorities, or the Social Affairs Office, depending on their circumstances.
Checking early gives participants an opportunity to determine whether they need to update their data, apply for reactivation, or switch to independent membership. Any follow-up action remains subject to the requirements and verification results of the authorized institutions.
